J. Scott Young
Ph.D., NCC, LCMHC
I received my Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1996, and have worked as a professional counselor since 1990. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of North Carolina (LCMHC #2123) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC #35904). I am the Department Chair of Counseling and Educational Development at the UNC-Greensboro and have been serving clients at Triad Counseling and Clinical Services since 2010. My areas of specialization include individual, couple, family, and group counseling with adults.
All therapies and techniques I apply are well established, researched-based and respected by mental health professionals. I work with clients from a strength-based approach so that existing client resources are utilized to solve problems. In addition, I take an educative style to working with people and encourage clients to learn more about the approaches to counseling I use (e.g., Dynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Family Systems, Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, Solution-Focused, Gestalt, etc.).
Please Note:
I participate with a large variety of insurance company networks; however you may wish to speak with your insurance company to make certain I am a participating provider with your particular network.
